Château de Villette Wedding

One of the most exquisitely designed wedding venues in France is only minutes from the center of Paris. A Château de Villette wedding is the personification of the famous French expression “art de vivre,” with lavish interiors designed thoughtfully in elegance and opulence.

Nestled just outside Paris on a 75ha woodland park, the property features two lakes, a cascading fountain, a glass house, and orangery in addition to the château. Perfectly suited for extensive guest lists and intimate gatherings alike, Château de Villette is an excellent choice for a destination wedding venue. In our venue guide, we’ve outlined what makes Château de Villette an ideal destination wedding venue in France.

Proximity to Paris

When it comes to destination weddings, ease of travel for the convenience of guests is crucial for a stress-free experience. A château with close proximity to Paris is ideal for destination weddings. Many châteaux that host weddings involve more extensive travel to the countryside, but Château de Villette is only a short 40 minutes from the center of Paris. This makes it incredibly convenient for guests to fly into Paris and enjoy the city, while still only a short trip from a châteaux experience.

Travel to the château is simple. The château is located Northwest of Paris, just 40 minutes from the Champs-Élysées, and only 40 minutes from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport. Close proximity to the airport is another major plus.

Unparalleled Design

Your wedding venue design sets the tone for the event. Few wedding venues offer the same attention to design as Château de Villette. The stunning interiors were designed by the renowned interior decorator Jacques Garcia, reflecting the atmosphere of 18th century France through a blend of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI pieces. The art collection is extensive, with some cases of royal provenance.

Tasselled door keys, countless antiques, intricate filigree crown molding, tapestries, rich architectural detail, and the loveliest textiles are only a few of the intricate details around every corner of the château. What better atmosphere for a destination wedding in France?

Luxurious Accommodations

Perfect for an intimate wedding, Château de Villette offers extravagant accommodations for a true châteaux experience. Interior decorator Jacques Garcia individually designed each of the seven suites in the main château, each suite a unique translation of 18th century design.

For an intimate gathering, guests can be hosted in the seven suites of the main château. Opening the wing can accommodate more guests, with a maximum accommodation of 30 guests on the property.

For larger guest lists, the château’s close proximity to Paris makes accommodations beyond 30 guests simple.

Historic Significance

Built in the late 17th century, the château was originally designed by architect François Mansart for the Count of Aufflay. It was later completed by his great-nephew, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, chief-architect of Louis XV, who also oversaw the construction of Château de Versailles. The garden of Château de Villette was also designed by André Le Nôtre, who created the famous gardens of Versailles. Thus, Château de Villette is known as Le Petit Versailles (the Little Versailles). The French government has considered Château de Villette a historical landmark since 1942.

In the 18th century, the owners of Château de Villette would host the leading intellectuals of the time, such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine. In more recent years, Château de Villette has hosted celebrities like John Travolta, Tom Cruise and Lenny Kravitz.
