The Swan House in Atlanta

The inspiration for this editorial was the fluttering of a butterfly's wings. The vision's overall feel was lively, from flourishing blooms swaying in the wind to breezy textiles and the trickling water of the Swan House's cascading fountain to windswept hair.

Both Alexandra Grecco gowns are reminiscent of the butterfly. Lucy with its ruffled bodice and Iris with whimsical floral appliqué, with both gowns' plunging necklines creating the butterfly's symmetry. Tessa Pinner's cake design studies the butterfly's wings fluttering in shades of lilac and rose. Handmade plates in hues of pale blue mimic an inviting flower on which to land.

A wedding en plein air where each detail is sewn together by details of fine art and laced with elements of nature. As Monet brushed the iconic Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies onto canvas, he had no other wish than to present a respite for the mind, a dreamlike utopia. Willowing shades of green, sky blue, buttery yellows and hues of white caught mingling together by the pond’s reflection gave way to a calming tranquility. In the same way Monet’s garden provided a romantic escape for city-dwellers, this styled wedding slips away into the gardens of Charleston’s Magnolia Plantation, bringing this work in Impressionism to life.

From the bride's garden-gathered bouquet and her glazed crown of foliage to the vines intricately sewn into her custom Sabrina Dahan wedding gown and her hand-stitched Bella Belle t-strap shoes, each element of this styled wedding is just like a painting, capturing a moment in time that belonged to another world.

This wedding inspiration is a composition of French old-world enchantment, made timeless by the beauty of nature. Both the ring and the silver platter are odes to antiquity, allowing their simplicity to complement the abundance of willows and flowers planted on the centerpiece, the wedding cake and around the reception area. From the bride's makeup to the elegant paper goods, the color palette is a direct reflection of Monet’s masterpiece in summer.

Framed by the romance of love, this wedding inspiration is a dreamlike impressionist painting brought to life.

I MUST HAVE FLOWERS
ALWAYS AND ALWAYS

Love and beauty reflect one another. Both feed the soul and, just as love knows no bounds, beauty’s bounty is endless. What better place for the two to intertwine than at a wedding inspired by Monet’s gardens of Giverny.

Atlanta’s Swan House offers a striking backdrop for this ethereal wedding; architectural symmetry juxtaposed with floral majesty. Every detail yields to nature’s unrestrained touch. The bride’s natural beauty is crowned by an Untamed Petals tiara, tangled with crystals bound by gold. From the bride's Berta bridal gown, trellised in floral detail to her Emmy London shoes, embellished with botanical designs, every element echoes Monet’s words when he said, “I must have flowers, always and always.”

Monet believed nature to be at its most beautiful when it was allowed to grow freely. Just as romance conjures up a frenzy of emotion, the bride’s bouquet is a frenzy of beauty, with sweet peas, scabiosa, dahlias, and tulips effortlessly tangling together. As the floral centerpiece overflows on the table, buds of pink and lavender traipse along the table. Muted tones of lavender and mauve silks add a sense of serenity to the setting.

Monet abandoned his garden to an unconstrained abundance of flowers. With nature as his muse, Monet’s masterpieces were inspired by the untouched momentary effects of light and color. This naturalist wedding lent itself to that same inspiration, abandoning itself to the mysterious beauty that only nature possesses, existing as a masterpiece, itself.
